We are currently in the limbo after a big show. Thanks to all of you who came to see Fiddler on the Roof! It was quite amazing!
Now, in the limbo between the rehearsals of shows, we are presenting the UBC Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s Fifth Annual Musical Revue! Our revues are a fun collection of the club’s favourite musical numbers as allocated to a common theme: this year, “Masquerade”.
Featuring numbers like “Facade” from Jekyll and Hyde, “Masquerade” from Phantom of the Opera, “Master of the House” from Les Miserables and others from the musicals Chorus Line, Spamalot, Chicago, Annie and Wicked among the multitude.
There is only a one-off performance, so be sure to visit the Student Union Building Ballroom at UBC on April 1st at 7:00PM to see it! The admission fee is $5, paid in cash at the door. Come for the singing and dancing and general revelry. Best of all? Come in Costume.
We are all very excited, and we woul d love for you to be there!
UBC’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society is putting on a Highlights of Gilbert and Sullivan combined with the one act Trial by Jury as our annual Gilbert and Sullivan performance this fall. And – excitement of excitements – Fiddler on the Roof will be our Broadway show in February of 2010.
We are currently seeking artistic teams for the two productions. As with previous years, auditions for both shows will be held in late September, and all interested parties may sign up for them during the new school year’s clubs week. (Exact dates, along with more information, will be published shortly).
Additionally, a new executive council has been elected and any updated information regarding this change this may be found under ‘contacts’.

For our 2008-2009 season, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of UBC is putting on both The Fantasticks (Nov. 2008) and The Sorceror (Jan. 2009). We’ve got a great artistic team ready and we’re excited to put together fantastic casts for these productions.
Because we are doing both a musical and an operetta, please prepare three pieces. However, please note that due to time constraints, not all three pieces may be heard.
- 1 opera/classical
- 1 musical theatre
- 1 own choice
Auditions will be taking place on:
- Sunday, September 21 (1pm to 5pm)
- Monday, September 22 (7pm to 10pm)
- Wednesday, September 24 (7pm to 10pm)
IMPORTANT: Please be available for callbacks on Sunday, September 28 (1pm to 5pm).
NOTE: For non-singing actors, there are three non-singing roles in The Fantasticks. So if acting is your strong suit, make sure to audition for us!

Auditions for both productions will be in September ‘08, with performances of The Fantasticks (Schmidt/Jones) in November ‘08, and The Sorcerer (Gilbert/Sullivan) in January ‘09.
