For our 2008-2009 season, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of UBC is putting on both The Fantasticks (Nov. 2008) and The Sorceror (Jan. 2009). We’ve got a great artistic team ready and we’re excited to put together fantastic casts for these productions.
Because we are doing both a musical and an operetta, please prepare three pieces. However, please note that due to time constraints, not all three pieces may be heard.
- 1 opera/classical
- 1 musical theatre
- 1 own choice
Auditions will be taking place on:
- Sunday, September 21 (1pm to 5pm)
- Monday, September 22 (7pm to 10pm)
- Wednesday, September 24 (7pm to 10pm)
IMPORTANT: Please be available for callbacks on Sunday, September 28 (1pm to 5pm).
NOTE: For non-singing actors, there are three non-singing roles in The Fantasticks. So if acting is your strong suit, make sure to audition for us!

The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of UBC has been around for 5 years now, so it’s time for a party! Make sure to book off Sat. June 21 for the big reunion!
What: The G&S 5-Year Reunion!

Where: Thea’s Lounge (upstairs from Koerner’s Pub), at the UBC campus
Why: Because you love G&S!
We’ll have food, drinks, awards, a scavenger hunt, special performances, musical madlibs and more!

We’re looking for motivated, creative individuals to fill the following positions for our 2008-2009 season:
- Director, The Fantasticks
- Musical Director/Pianist, The Fantasticks
- Technical Director, The Fantasticks
- Staging Director, The Sorcerer
- Musical Director, The Sorcerer
- Choreographer, The Sorcerer
- Costume Design/Construction, The Sorcerer
- Set Design/Construction, The Sorcerer
- Stage Manager (co-ordinating both shows, with help from ASMs)
Auditions for both productions will be in September ‘08, with performances of The Fantasticks (Schmidt/Jones) in November ‘08, and The Sorcerer (Gilbert/Sullivan) in January ‘09.
